How do you take an automotive services brand into the next generation?

As a traditionally offline retailer, Point S provides a wide range of automotive services, including oil changes, tire rotations, battery repairs, and a multi-brand portfolio of automotive parts, tires, and accessories. With a dozen service centers and door-to-door services, Point S partnered with Wave Commerce to build a seamless, modern, and omnichannel direct-to-consumer (DTC) experience on Shopify.

Point S Goals

WooCommerce to Shopify Migration

The first phase of the project focused on building a robust and customer-friendly Shopify store tailored to Point S Hong Kong’s unique needs. Our team advised Point S on the optimal theme, which was then extensively customized to reflect Point S’ identity and unique product portfolio.

A crucial component of this phase was the transformation and optimization of the product catalog. With a diverse inventory of automotive parts, tires, and accessories, it was necessary to streamline SKUs, enhance product metadata, and restructure inventory data. This meticulous data organization not only improved product display but also simplified stock management for the Point S team.

To ensure a smooth fulfillment process, we designed an efficient logistics system that seamlessly bridged the online and offline experiences. Customers could now schedule services with ease, whether opting for in-store assistance or at-home installations. Additionally, several key custom developments were implemented, including a specialized search and filter widget for tires, which enabled customers to refine their search based on brand, model, and specifications. The mega menu was also restructured for intuitive navigation, making it easier for shoppers to explore various product categories and services.

CRM & Loyalty Program Implementation

Following the successful launch of the new Shopify store, we began working with Point S on customer relationship management (CRM) and loyalty program integration. The highlight of this phase was the implementation of OMNI Loyalty, which introduced a structured rewards program designed to encourage repeat purchases and customer engagement. This included a custom-built customer account registration form, allowing for a more personalized onboarding experience. 

To further enhance the user experience, we developed a product reorder functionality within customer accounts, enabling them to conveniently repurchase their preferred automotive products. Additionally, Wave Vouchers was integrated, allowing online customers to redeem free services in physical stores - bridging the gap between ecommerce and in-person services while driving foot traffic to Point S locations.

Customer engagement was also a priority, with automated email flows set up through Klaviyo to provide timely and relevant communication with shoppers. Furthermore, a custom integration of Judge.me facilitated user-generated content and reviews, fostering trust and credibility for the brand.

Optimized Search & Filtering

With a vast selection of automotive products, customers needed a faster, more intuitive way to find specific tires and parts. The old WooCommerce setup lacked an efficient search function, often leading to frustration and abandoned searches. To address this, we developed a custom search and filtering widget that refined results based on brand, model, and specifications. This greatly enhanced the browsing experience, making it easier for customers to locate the exact products they needed.

Streamlined Checkout & Order Fulfillment

A key requirement for Point S was to provide customers with flexibility in choosing between in-store and at-home installation services. However, managing these options within a single checkout process can oftentimes be challenging. However, at Wave Commerce, we have been facilitating and optimizing this experience for brands for several years. We easily setup a smooth integration allowing customers to select their preferred service option seamlessly. Additionally, we automated email confirmations to ensure clear communication regarding service appointments, reducing confusion and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Results & Impact

1.5-Month Rapid Development

The new Shopify store was fully developed and launched within just 1.5 months. Despite the tight timeline, we successfully delivered a fully customized, high-performance site tailored to Point S’s operational and customer needs, including a seamless omnichannel strategy!

Increased Conversions & Seamless Customer Journey

The transformation of the Point S website resulted in a significant improvement in conversion rates. With a more intuitive and frictionless buying journey, customers could now easily discover products, compare specifications, and complete their purchases with minimal effort. The optimized search functions and improved product displays played a critical role in enhancing the shopping experience.

Stronger Customer Loyalty & In-Store Engagement

By integrating OMNI Loyalty, Point S introduced an engaging rewards system that incentivized repeat purchases. Customers who shopped online were also encouraged to visit physical stores for service redemptions, reinforcing a strong omnichannel presence and deepening brand loyalty.

Operational Efficiency & Improved Inventory Management

Beyond the customer-facing enhancements, the project also significantly improved backend operations. The structured product data allowed for automated inventory updates, reducing manual workload and minimizing errors. Additionally, streamlined order fulfillment processes ensured that Point S could efficiently manage both online and offline services without logistical bottlenecks.

This successful migration to Shopify has positioned Point S Hong Kong for long-term growth, equipping them with the digital tools necessary to thrive in the evolving automotive retail landscape. Point S is now primed to deliver a best-in-class shopping and service experience for its customers.
