This February, Shopify first announced Shopify Magic within the Winter Editions 2023, their twice-yearly product roadmap and updates announcement. Shopify Magic is an innovative tool that becomes the virtual assistant you always wanted. Using AI technology, Shopify Magic’s Autowrite feature automatically creates high-quality product descriptions for your online Shopify store that are SEO-friendly and resonate with your target audience.

This feature is especially useful for merchants who are short on time or resources and need to optimize their product descriptions quickly.

How to access Shopify Magic?

Shopify Magic does not require the installation of any apps as it is built directly into your Shopify store admin. From your product admin page, you will notice the “Autowrite” icon in the bottom right corner of the product description editor.

Just list a few details about your product in bullet point form, including keywords in which you want the product to rank for SEO (search engine optimization), select a tone from the list, and then click the “Autowrite” button. You can then freely edit the suggested description to your liking.

Please note:

• Shopify Magic will only produce copy in American English.
• While Shopify Magic can generate high-quality descriptions, it's still important to review and edit them before publishing. This will ensure that the description accurately reflects the product and is consistent with your brand image.

Selecting a tone:

When selecting a tone, it changes the characteristics of the content to match the tone you selected, including the vocabulary, sentence structure, and punctuation. All outcomes will be positive-sounding descriptions that highlight the benefits of your product.

• Daring: Written from the perspective of someone who challenges the buyer to be bold and adventurous, this tone uses strong action words to motivate and inspire.
• Playful: Written from the perspective of someone who doesn't take themselves or life too seriously, this tone uses fun or quirky language, including humor and slang expressions.
• Sophisticated: Written in the style of a luxury brand selling premium products, this tone sounds sophisticated and refined, using language that appeals to a buyer’s desire for high quality and taste.
